now&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;so I wanted to address this in a video.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Is China still the go-to&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;place to manufacture products?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And I think that it's not&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;a strict yes or no answer.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So I want to talk about some pros and cons&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and things to consider in 2021,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;after the 'rona and everything&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that's going on politically in the world,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;whether you should still look&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to manufacture in China or domestically.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So first original question,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is China still the place to manufacture?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Well, as I mentioned, there's not&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;a straight yes or no answer.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;I work with beginners,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;where you are sourcing your first product,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and I also work with existing brands&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that still to this day&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;manufacture in China.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So despite everything&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that's going on right now,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;do I still think China is a&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;great place to manufacture?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Absolutely.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;But with the political climate&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and things with tariffs&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and everything happening right now&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;with travel restrictions, et cetera,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;it just means that should you&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;want to manufacture in China,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;there are some things&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you need to consider.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So if this is your very first product,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;I first off recommend that&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you look to get quotes&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;from China as well as domestically,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;because I think it's&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;important for you to start&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to get experience to see&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;what the differences are,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;culturally, price-wise, and service-wise,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;between someone you can work with locally,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;in the US or in your hometown,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;or across seas with China.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So first things first, what&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;are some things to consider&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;when [https://www.savethestudent.org/?s=dealing dealing] with China?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Well, the big draw for&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;manufacturing in China&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;comes down to the pretense that&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;it's typically cheaper to manufacture.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And in the past, that&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;has absolutely been true,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but it's not always the case.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Things to consider,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;especially if you are&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;importing to a 3PL in the US,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is you want to get quotes from China&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but also take a look at&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;what's called the landed cost.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;The landed cost is going to be your cost,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;once the goods have been,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;not only manufactured,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but shipped over from China,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;either air freight or by sea,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you also want to look at any tariffs&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;or duties that have been slapped on, okay?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;When you look at the final bill,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that's something to consider&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;because manufacturing in China&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;isn't as cheap as it used to be&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;because there are additional&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;taxes and shipping&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that you do need to&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;take into consideration&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;with your landed costs.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;It may actually turn out that,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;depending on the kind of&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;product you're manufacturing,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;it may actually be about the same price&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;or a little bit cheaper to&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;manufacture domestically.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So that's definitely something&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to take into consideration.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Another thing we have,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;I got my nice list here,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;another thing that we find is that,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;I have known China, Chinese manufacturers,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to be really hungry for business.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So you will, again, this&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is not like cut and dry,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but typically China manufacturers&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;they offer really great customer service.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Their response times are generally great&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and they're hungry for business&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and they want to make sure that&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;they win over your business.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;The Chinese are very&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;family-oriented and because of that,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;they're very customer service oriented.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So the experience of dealing&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;with Chinese manufacturers&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;may be a lot more pleasant&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;than if you worked domestically.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Again, this is not all the time.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Everyone is different but that's typically&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;the consensus that I've heard&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;when dealing with sellers&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that work with manufacturers&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;overseas with that.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Another thing is, because&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;China is set up to manufacture,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you may find that your factory is set up&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to give you higher outputs a lot faster.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So if you are looking to work at volume,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;again that's something to consider.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;What are some of the cons?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So the cons are really the&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;reason I'm creating this video&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;because with tariffs that were implemented&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;in the last couple of years&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;in the US through Trump,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;with restrictions on travel ban,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and just what's going&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;on in manufacture,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;this is not like something&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that's going to affect&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;your business for a year, right?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;When you set up manufacturing,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;the pretense is that you're going into it&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to find a manufacturing partner&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that can help you with all&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;of your future product needs.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So this is something ideally&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that you're shopping for&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;a long-term partnership.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And it's important to know that&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;when you're dealing with international,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;there are things that&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;will come up every year,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;economically and politically,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that will affect things such&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;as manufacturing prices,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;communication, your ability&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to travel to countries.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So by working internationally,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you are bringing in&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;a little bit of unpredictability&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and uncertainty in that&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but it may or may not affect you.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;But just know to be ready for&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;something like that, okay?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;A couple of cons we have&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;with dealing with China,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;obvious, language barrier,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but this is something&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that should not be strictly with China.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;As people are shopping outside of China,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;I find that other surrounding countries&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;have been really great&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and are really stepping up&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;in the international manufacturing space&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;such as Taiwan, Vietnam, et cetera,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;depending on what you're manufacturing.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And anytime you deal with a manufacturer&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that's not domestic and&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;doesn't speak your language,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;there will be language barriers.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So when it comes to dealing with China,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you will want to be&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;definitely over-communicate&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and be very literal in your communication&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;so that nothing gets missed with that.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So that's number one, is&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;understand the language barrier,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and be as literal.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Communicate with photos, webcam, video,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;anything that can really portray literally&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;what it is you're looking for, okay?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Second, there is a stigma&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;around goods in China.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And this is, I would think,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;one of the largest points in this video&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is that consumers now,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;if you manufacture in China&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and your customers find out,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you've nothing to hide.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;You should not be ashamed&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;about manufacturing in China&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but do expect the odd negative comment of,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;quot;Oh you manufacture overseas?&amp;quot;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;There's absolutely nothing wrong with that&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but some of your consumers,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;some of your customers,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;may have a problem with that.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And I think that that's just,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;it's par for the course.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;You should not stake in&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;a whole business decision&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;of who you manufacture&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;because you are scared&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;of upsetting a couple&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;of people on your list&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;or who are your customers, right?&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Like, there definitely&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is something to be said&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;about locally made.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And sure, there are&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;consumers that would rather&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;pay more for locally made goods&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but consumers, generally&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;speaking, vote with their wallets.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And if they like something&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that has good reviews,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is good quality, and you've&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;done your due diligence&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to create a product that is good quality,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you've done your QA on-ground,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you've made sure that the product&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;does exactly what it says it will do,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and it's something that consumers love,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;where it's made should not&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;be a factor to consider.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So that brings me to my&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;last point which is just,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;this is a word of caution,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;really not just with China&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;but any manufacturer,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is there's a reason you&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;want to get a prototype&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;or samples made in advance.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And there's a reason you,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;even when you do your initial run&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and future inventory runs,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you want to make sure that you have QA&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;or really quality control&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;happening on the ground&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;so that you have someone, be it in China,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;you don't need to be&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;the one to go to China,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to check every 10th item on the belt&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;before it goes out to customers.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;But you want to have like a local rep&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;or some way to check the quality of goods&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;before they go out to your&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;customers at the end of the day&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;because you just don't want&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to get caught off-guard&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;with a shipment of thousands of units&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that have gone out to your&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;customers and nobody's checked.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;That could be literally business-ending.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So, just a few things&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to consider with that.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Overall, my opinion is I think that China&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is still a amazing place&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;to manufacture goods.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;But, of course, with things&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;happening in the world,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;there are other options&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that have cropped up&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that are also super viable.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;So,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;if sourcing a local manufacturer&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;is really important to you&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;because it's part of your business model,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;absolutely go for that.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;If you're not quite sure,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;then I do suggest you shop around&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and see what the experience is like,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and ultimately go with the relationship&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;and the best prices for your margins&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;as well as what works best for kind of product.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;Because if you are manufacturing&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;hardware versus textiles,&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;it's totally different.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And so those are just a few points&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;that I'd like to leave you with.&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br&amp;gt;And shout out to
